Total Garbage: Why Does My Sink Smell

Here I was, wondering what died after breakfast in my sink. Did I dare stick my hand in? Did I want to just wait and see? No, I wanted to hop on amazon and find a solution.
I have tried sticks, balls, even fresh herbs, but nothing seemed to make my sink better. It always smelled after a few days. Until Glisten. Sound oddly sexual, cleans your pipes regardless. It's effective, long lasting, fun to watch. Buy it now, thank me later.
So, you may be wondering, how do sink cleaners work?

First, let's talk about sinks. Looks like alot, huh? Sinks are like weird twisted passageways to the sewer unknown. I just want the spirit haunting mine to leave.
So what causes that smell? In a kitchen, there is frequently a whole lot of buildup from cooking oils, soap scum, general bad intentions washing down the drain. This can cause clogs, and a nasty smell. Speaking of smells, those can stem from issues with your P-trap. Seriously, I can't make this up.
There are "natural" ways to try to unclog your drain. In undergrad we used to pour baking soda down the hole, quickly pour in vinegar, and shove the plug down quickly in order to ensure the explosion would push downwards. The folks at Highya (sounds very upbeat!) recommend vinegar ice cubes, but that can dull your disposal blades. that leaves the chemical or enzyme methods, which I've narrowed down to three methods, below.
Drain sticks: Brand Name most reviewed was Sani Sticks and they are available Here. Generic version with excellent reviews here. The sticks stay in your drain and slowly break down, ending enzymes to nibble away at your clogs. The are long lasting, but also not fast-acting. Overall, the reviews weren't AHMAZING (please see, here and here). Also they never really worked for me. I just felt they got in the way of the disposal, well, disposing. And they were always looking at you when you peered in the sink. Ew.
Balls: Name Brand first on the scene was Plink. Glisten also makes a very reasonably priced option at 10 balls for $2.94 on prime. Arm and Hammer has a solid option as well. Basically you drop the ball in, run your disposal, and you have cleaned and deodorized a black hole. The Plink website is short on the details of how this works, but I am here to tell you it is temporary. It's like a frat boy febreezing a dirty T-shirt before wearing it again for the 12th time instead of doing laundry. Double Ew.
Which leads me to......drum roll please.....
I wholeheartedly recommend these for the following reasons:
a. Fun to use. You run the water, decrease the flow, then put in a packet and watch it go!
b. Made with natural ingredients. Is it totally chem free? No. Is it trying hard like I am? Yes.
c. It cleans with a bleach alternative
d. It makes an attempt to"scrub" with abrasives in the packet
e. It also smells nice
f. Honestly, it's just so fun to watch the foam come up!
Let me know if your sink glistened, too!
